🍦The Weekend in the Peak is Ready for You!

540 Expansion Delayed…thanks, Debby.
Who knew there could be so much excitement around a highway?! And here we are. Debby delayed a lot of things including the opening of the new stretch of 540 from N.C. 55 near Apex and Holly Springs east to Interstate 40 and U.S. 70 at the Johnston County line. The ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for August 27th will be delayed by at least two weeks. Erosion due to heavy rain created repair needs hence creating the delay. In June, 540 fest was held on the unopened highway and included a 5k race, food and drinks and entertainment. Over 2500 residents showed up to take pictures and celebrate…the highway! So while the road will no longer be open for Labor Day traffic, it will open. And we should throw another party, for sure.

Swanky in the Peak

If you are looking for a swanky spot to grab a drink this weekend, we have 3 for you to check out without going to downtown Raleigh. Don’t get mad at us, Raleigh, we just want to stay closer to home this weekend. All three of these spots have indoor and outdoor seating and have a very high fancy factor.

Neat & Sweet in Apex is across the hall of their sister restaurant Scratched. The interior is full of velvet and leather seating and a large bar with seating as well. The bartenders are knowledgeable and accommodating. Ask questions about the cocktails before you order so they can match your preferences with the drink. Also, starting this Sunday, Neat and Sweet is hosting Coffee, Cocktails and Crepes Brunch from 12-3. If you need me on Sunday from 12-3, you know where to find me.

The Walkup Cary is literally a walk up in Cary. Climb the steps to a charming speakeasy vibe and enjoy a fun, exciting and quality time. That’s actually a drink on their menu :) Also, try the Ranch Water. It’s a Texas favorite and always hits the spot.

Roasted corn in a Negroni? Ok! The Nightingale Rooftop in Holly Springs brings an upscale vibe to Holly Springs and it’s a welcome addition! You will definitely want to wallpaper your house when you get home. You have been warned.
