☔️ We can’t stop talking about the rain until it stops raining

Rain should clear by the weekend.
Seen above is the Crabtree Valley Mall Parking garage in 2018. With Debby moving in and bringing double digits in inches of rain this week, you’re going to want to park somewhere else, unless you are boating to the mall!
Rain should clear up by Saturday for weekend plans but be prepared for potential closed roads due to flooding and damage and potential power outages.
Wake county schools are closed tomorrow thanks to Debby. President Joe Biden also approved an emergency declaration for the state of North Carolina as Tropical Storm Debby approaches. The declaration allows state and local response efforts to be supplemented with federal assistance. It also authorizes FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security to coordinate relief efforts.Per a release, it states the President’s action authorizes FEMA to coordinate all disaster relief efforts to alleviate the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population and to provide appropriate assistance to save lives, to protect property, public health and safety and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe. Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.

Carolina Junior Hurricanes Youth Hockey is Searching for Billet Families
The Jr. Canes Youth Program is seeking billet families to host out-of-state or international players for the upcoming season. This program provides players with the chance to pursue their passion for hockey while experiencing the warmth and support of a local family.

What Does It Mean to Be a Billet Family?

As a billet family, you will provide room and board for a player for the duration of the season. In return, you will receive a monthly stipend to cover expenses and a life changing experience of supporting an athlete’s dream. The program works with the families and the player to ensure a seamless process that ensures a good fit and a support network throughout the season.

Why Become a Billet Family?

  • Support a Young Athlete: Help a player continue their hockey career with the best youth program in the State of North Carolina.

  • Be a Part of the Team: As a billet family, you become an even more integral part of the Jr. Canes community, fostering connections and friendships that will last a lifetime.

  • Cultural Exchange: Hosting a player from a different state or country provides a unique opportunity to learn about new cultures and share your own traditions.

How to Get Involved

If you are interested in becoming a billet family or would like more information, contact Stephanie Tomko at [email protected]. We would be happy to answer any questions and guide you through the application process.

Thank you for considering this rewarding opportunity. Your support is crucial to the success of our program and the development of our players. Together, we can make this season unforgettable for everyone involved.
