Dallas Famous Chicken and Biscuits to Close After 43 Years: An Emotional Farewell to a Local Legend
A beloved Apex institution, Dallas Famous Chicken and Biscuits, is closing its doors after 43 incredible years of serving up some of the best comfort food in town. The iconic eatery has been a staple in our community and recipient of a Mayoral Award in 2021 for 40 years of serving the community. The mouthwatering biscuits, perfectly crispy fried chicken, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere made every visit feel like coming home.
The last day to enjoy a meal at Dallas Famous Chicken and Biscuits will be this Saturday, August 31st. As Ray steps into retirement, we all feel a mix of emotions—gratitude for the years of delicious food and fellowship, and sadness as we say goodbye to a place that’s become part of the fabric of Apex.
Ray and his staff have poured their hearts and souls into this restaurant, and while it’s hard to see it go, we wish Ray nothing but the best in this next chapter of his life. Retirement is well-deserved after decades of early mornings, hard work, and dedication to bringing joy to our community through food.
So, if you’re in the mood for a final taste of those famous biscuits or just want to share a smile and a thank you with Ray, be sure to stop by before the doors close for good. Let’s give Ray the heartfelt send-off he deserves, filled with appreciation for all he’s done for Apex.
Thank you, Ray, for 43 wonderful years. Your legacy will live on in the countless memories and full bellies you’ve given us. Enjoy your retirement—you’ve earned it!
Apex High School Senior Parade Brings Early Morning Excitement and Community Pride
Tuesday morning saw the streets near Apex High School come alive with excitement as the annual Senior Parade rolled through, celebrating the Class of 2024 in true Apex style. Decked out in their school colors, the seniors showcased their creativity and school spirit with elaborately decorated cars, bringing smiles and cheers from family, friends, and community members who gathered to watch the festive procession.
Adding to the excitement were the distinguished judges who joined the fun at the crack of dawn. Mayor Jacques Gilbert, Apex Police Deputy Chief Trevor, and Apex Fire Chief Timothy Herman were all onsite bright and early to lend their support and evaluate the students’ efforts. The parade, which has become a beloved tradition in Apex, was a fantastic display of community pride and student achievement.
But beyond the competition, the parade was a moment for the entire community to come together and celebrate these students as they embark on their final year in the building as Cougars.
The energy was infectious, and the event served as a reminder of the strong community bonds that make Apex such a special place to live. As the seniors head into their senior year, this parade will surely be a cherished memory, symbolizing their journey toward graduation and what lies ahead.
Congratulations to the Class of 2024—your creativity and spirit were on full display, and the entire town is proud of you!
