Raleigh Fireworks, A Bang or a Bust?
Lightning, technical difficulties and no communication..oh my.
Downtown Raleigh fireworks were scheduled for 9:30pm on July 4th at Dorothea Dix park but the weather wasn’t the only thing that didn’t cooperate.
The weather is always an unknown when planning an aerial celebration, and July 4th was no exception. Due to a lightning warning, fireworks were delayed.
After the “all clear” was given to begin the show, a “technical difficulty” delayed and then shortened the show to just a few minutes.
According to WRAL news, many people were unsure if the show would proceed. The city provided a signup link for text alerts, but no notifications were sent out regarding the weather or delays. The city also did not offer any updates on social media.
WRal reports that the fireworks will not be rescheduled.
