🗞️ This issue is dedicated to Apex Police Department K9 Officer Zeus who passed away due to a medical issue on July 30, 2024. Rest in peace Officer, and thank you for your service.

🚔 Farewell to Zeus

The Apex Police Department will hold a final farewell ceremony for their beloved K9 officer, Zeus, who passed away due to a medical issue on July 30, 2024.

Zeus, a dual-purpose Belgian Malinois originally born in Holland, joined the Apex Police Department in January of 2016. During his career, Zeus had 454 deployments ranging from narcotic sniffs, building searches, article searches, search warrants, and tracks for wanted/missing persons.

Zeus had been battling an illness that took an unexpected turn last week. His handler, Sgt. Asmussen was able to be with him at the end.
The outpouring of love and support from the Apex community and beyond comes as no surprise. Zeus was a beloved part of the Apex community.

Apex Police Department will host a farewell ceremony Today, Monday August 5th starting at 1:30pm

The Apex Police Department will hold a final farewell ceremony for their beloved K9 officer, Zeus, who passed away due to a medical issue on July 30, 2024.

To honor and pay their respects, the Apex Police Department will be holding a final farewell ceremony on Monday, August 5 at 1:30PM. The ceremony will take place at the Apex Police Department located at 205 Saunders Street. Residents are invited to attend and show their support.

The schedule for the ceremony will include a memorial service at 1:30 PM with a special "last call" for Zeus. This will be followed by a procession with police cars at approximately 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM. The procession will depart from the Police Department and travel towards Holly Springs.
