But not without mixed Facebook comments. As with any new thing, especially a new thing that has to do with traffic, there are mixed reviews. And by mixed reviews, I mean lots Facebook comments. Even if you don’t make ‘em, you read ‘em and so do we. After a festival held on the unopened highway, complete with a 5k run and food trucks to weather delays on top of other delays, the newly opened 18-mile stretch of highway spans from NC-55 Bypass Apex to the I-40/I-42 interchange in Garner. Social media was active this morning to say the least. From delightful comments like “it took 15 minutes off of my commute!” To “Those lights have made it an absolute $hit show this morning”, the internet was not lacking in local opinions. The Scoop is going to have a little faith in NC DOT that they are paying attention to the impact and tweaks needed. In the meantime, we will wait for the full loop to be closed in the future. We will keep you in the loop about it 😉 

Southern Peak hosts the final Pasta & Pints

No, they are not closing but there may have been a few tears in the busiate (that’s a curly noodle, see below image for our mediocre noodle shaping skills) last night as the final Pasta and Pints was hosted at Southern Peak. Why, you may ask? That little room in the back is going to become a brewing expansion at your neighborhood brewery as they prepare for their second location’s opening at Sweetwater. Johnny Bisi is the brand marketing specialist at Southern Peak and the Chef instructor of Pints and Pints AND hosts private events when he’s not at the brewery. His laid back approachable teaching style, complete with cheesy jokes, speaks to his passion for Italian wine and cuisine and his culinary background that goes back to his Grandma’s kitchen where he spent his childhood learning to cook with the best. Bisi has spent many hours in the restaurant scene, including time at Brewery Bhavana getting it up and running. If your single and want to mingle, you can catch Johnny at the That’s Amore event at The Hartwell Raleigh - a casual evening of mingling and mixing with other singles in our community with an Italian themed wine tasting, antipasto and a pasta making workshop. Just to be clear, ladies, Johnny will be cooking and teaching not dating and mingling. He’s taken.
