Local Grandparents featured in People Magazine for the perfect response when their grandson was faced with discrimination. 

If you know Ginny and Pops Parasaliti, which I do, you know that family is the most important thing no matter what. So when their grandson, Daniel Sheehan and his fiance Matt Price were denied services for their wedding, Grandma Ginny had the perfect response. 

Daniel and Matt are planning a North Carolina mountain wedding and were searching for transportation options as their venue is difficult to navigate for those with mobility challenges. After inquiring with a local trolley rental company, they were asked if their wedding was a groom and groom wedding. After replying that indeed it was, the company responded that they would not be able to provide the service due to their religious beliefs. Shocked by the response, they decided to post a review about the company to educate other LGBTQIA+ couples that may also be in search of wedding services. The company came back with an aggressive response you can read here. 

But when faced with unexpected disappointment when planning what is supposed to be the happiest of your life, Grandma Ginny proved that family is exactly what you need to stay confident in love and what you are having for dinner. 

"Hi guys, I am just beside myself with FURY!!!!! But, I'm not going to let these bigots ruin my excitement about your wedding," Parasiliti's text read. "Christianity is loving each of us & the path we have chosen!!!! Love is who we choose as our partner, & the one who makes our lives complete!!!! Raise your heads up high, & be PROUD of who you are!!! Amazing humans!!!!! Love you guys with all my heart. ♥️"

In a quick follow-up text, she added: "I have a new recipe for you. Tuscan chicken. I'll send it to you. 👍💕💕💕"

Daniel comments in the article that Ginny and Pops often served as adopted grandparents to many of their friends whose families did not offer the love and support that they readily provide. From experience, I can vouch that the Parasaliti family is one that welcomes you with open arms from the minute you meet them and I’m lucky to be a part of their family!
