☕️ Happy Thursday, Apex! The closer we get to the first day of school, the better the Dad Jokes get…What do you call a teacher that doesn’t fart in public? See the end for the punchline!

🍦In today’s Peak City Scoop
🗞️ Night Market is back in Downtown Cary Park this Friday
🗞️ Taste of Brooklyn Bakery closing its doors after over 5 years on Salem

Let’s get to it.

A night of glitz and glamour at The Halle Cultural Arts Center. Get ready to strut your stuff on the red carpet and mingle with fellow film enthusiasts. Dress to impress and be prepared for a night of excitement as we celebrate each win. The event is free, but you need a ticket from Eventbrite.

The evening begins with folks arriving on the Red Carpet at the Halle Cultural Arts Center in historic downtown Apex, NC.
This event is free, but you must get your tickets at Eventbrite.

We honor this year's Charlie and Nancy Gaddy Lifetime Achievement Award, (LAA) recipient, Rowell Gormon, the man of more than one voice, and a true puppet enthusiast. Yeah, he knows the Muppets!

On hand is a past recipient of the Gaddy LAA, Johnny Whitaker, A-list star in the 1960s and 70s. Johnny is going to direct his first film here in the Apex area in 2025. He will meet with potential cast and crew while on this trip.

We hope Charlie Gaddy can attend this year we will not know until the day of. But we know his star is bright, and he is loved by many as WRAL's first anchor of the news.

We will take a short break after the awards portion of the evening and then screen several short form productions and then screen a feature film, "The Problem of The Hero". An important film, from Apex residents who helped produce and star in it. The film is an important production that deals with the real life story of New York American author Richard Wright (actor J. Mardrice Henderson), most famously known for his best-selling novel Native Son, and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paul Green (actor David zum Brunnen) who have been working together to adapt the aforementioned Native Son into a Broadway play. It is March 1941, the St. James Theatre in New York City. On the eve of opening night, a difference of opinion over a single page of the script threatens an impasse between two literary giants of the 20th Century. As rehearsal continues around Richard Wright and Paul Green, led by the mercurial Orson Welles, the ensuing argument - delving into race, class, politics, and personal story - seems destined to dissolve the writers’ friendship.
